Michael is an Associate in Marten's Portland Office. He brings a range of experience with federal and state statutes, including the Clean Water Act and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act.
Michael graduated summa cum laude and valedictorian from Lewis & Clark Law School, with a Certificate in Environmental and Natural Resources Law. During law school, Michael externed for Judge Michael Simon at the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon, worked as a research assistant to Professor Michael Blumm, and served as Associate Editor of the Environmental Law Review. As a clinical student at the Earthrise Law Center, he successfully briefed and argued a Clean Water Act case against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. He also received the Bernard O'Rourke Award for the best original research paper on an environmental topic. Prior to joining Marten as an Associate, Michael clerked for Justice Rebecca Duncan at the Oregon Supreme Court.
