Alexa Shasteen’s practice focuses on environmental, natural resources, and land use litigation, as well as environmental and product compliance and permitting. She helps private and public clients navigate complex issues involving environmental remediation and cost recovery; products safety; water quality and water rights; renewable energy development; and other federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations.

Prior to joining Marten Law, Alexa clerked for the Hon. Joel H. Bolger of the Alaska Supreme Court and the Hon. William Jay Riley of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. As a law clerk, Alexa assisted with all aspects of appellate litigation, including pre-argument or pre-conference analysis and drafting legal opinions.

Alexa earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Harvard Law School, where she was an editor on both the Environmental Law Review and the Law and Policy Review. While in law school Alexa participated in the Emmett Environmental Law and Policy Clinic and the Green New York Clinic, through which she externed with the New York City Law Department's Environmental Law Division. She also spent a summer clerking for the U.S. EPA in the Special Litigation and Projects office in Washington, D.C.

Prior to law school, Alexa worked as a legislative aide in the Nebraska Legislature. Alexa received her Bachelor of Arts, with high honors, from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in political science and history.
